FAQ

The Answers You Need

DO I NEED TO PREPARE ANY SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS AND TESTIMONIALS?

We are only accepting online applications. Applicants do not need to provide any supporting documents.  You can fill up all the necessary information in our online application form. Shortlisted applicants for Art Elective Programme (AEP) will be required to share their art portfolios with our art teachers.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR DSA TO NYJC?

All applications are done online. Applicants do not need to submit the completed application form in person. If you need to make an amendment or send any documents, you may email us.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I HAVE SUBMITTED THE APPLICATION FORM?

The DSA committee will assess all the applications. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for a face-to-face trial/ audition /interview. More information about the meeting will be shared by the teacher.

HOW DO I ACCEPT THE DSA OFFER?

If you are offered a place, NYJC will email a personalised Offer Letter and Acceptance Form to you and your parent. Your parent is to complete the Acceptance Form and reply to the school's email using his or her email address.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AFTER ACCEPTING THE OFFER?

Successful DSA-JC students are not allowed to participate in the Joint Admissions Exercise. They are also not allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the GCE O-Level Examination results. They are expected to honour the commitment to the DSA-JC school and to participate in activities related to their talent, for the duration of the programme admitted to. Students who do not fulfil their DSA commitment without valid reason may be required to transfer out to another school.

I UNDERSTAND THAT TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR DSA-JC, THE APPLICANT MUST SCORE 20 POINTS AND BELOW FOR L1R5 AT THE O-LEVELS. HOWEVER, ARE BONUS POINTS FOR CCA AND HIGHER MOTHER TONGUE APPLICABLE FOR DEDUCTION FOR DSA-JC APPLICATIONS? THAT MEANS IF THE APPLICANT HAS SCORED 21 POINTS FOR L1R5 BUT HAS 4 BONUS POINTS FOR DEDUCTION (E.G. 2 BONUS POINTS FOR HIGHER MOTHER TONGUE AND 2 FOR CCA), DOES THAT MEAN HER ELIGIBILITY POINTS BECOME 17, HENCE, CONVERTING HER APPLICATION TO BE VALID AND ELIGIBLE?

Students who are successful in seeking admission through DSA-JC need to fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria for Junior College admission after completing their O-Level examinations. To qualify for JC admission, students must have a gross L1R5 aggregate score of 20 and below. Bonus points are not considered for gross aggregate score. Students will also need to meet certain subject requirements. Please refer here for details.
